Our technology allows us to safely monitor therapeutic effectiveness throughout the course of treatment. The advantages include fewer false negatives and quantitative results in real time. Because cancer can be caught earlier and biopsy results are immediate, treatment can begin without delay. Furthermore, realtime monitoring allows therapy to be tailored for the patient and the cancer, potentially offering better results with less cost and less pain.
Locate and Quantify Metastases
The significantly increased sensitivity of our nanomagnetic detection systems makes possible the positive identification and location of metastases of only a few thousand cells—potentially allowing physicians to locate and treat metastases while there is still a chance of survival. Because the tumor can be carefully characterized before and during treatment, antibodies with high specificity can be selected and bound to our nanoparticles, allowing for extremely sensitive screening to detect metastases of that patient’s specific tumor. Our systems can both detect and localize these metastases, making possible earlier and potentially more effective treatment or removal.
